“She also had to adapt to the complete lack of privacy that comes from living so closely with so many people. Total strangers would enter her house without knocking or have picnics on her balcony, and medical procedures would be conducted in full view of all the other patients who were waiting.” For the rest of the interview head to Hope 103.2

Meet the Author
“So, I just thought, you know, the way for me to really experience something and do more with my life, I think, is to move and take myself out of my comfort zone. And, I also was at that point, which I think is a big part, is if you are in a relationship, and doing that with someone that has your back. I think, you see that in so many expat relationships. Because, you really have to be tight knit, and you have to be on the same page. Because if you’re not in a foreign country, it can really go pear shaped.”
China Blonde: From Newsreader to Author. One Expat Partners Journey through Asia
Navigating life in a different culture… … is full of challenges. Even in seemingly similar countries and cultures, expats encounter differences, obstacles and misunderstandings.
“As I look back at those early months, when China first revealed Coronavirus, few of us knew what that would mean for all of us. We watched on in amazement as China was catapulted to the front pages of our newspapers. Suddenly there was a renewed curiosity surrounding this nation of 1.4 billion people, that went beyond its economy and politics.”
2020 China Reflections with Nicole
"We often try to pigeonhole ourselves into a certain box - I did that as well, when I was a newsreader (like literally 😂) and we forget what we've done for the last 10 to 20 years... what makes up you as a whole! There are often so many other things you're capable of besides that single work title."
With Howard Whiteson
“I can remember a friend inviting us to our first ‘shindig’ in Xi’an and I was so nervous! We walked into this room and it was like a global summit. People from every nationality - we’re all SO different but we had an instant connection - the common bond of wanting to step out of our comfort zone.” Nicole Webb
